, 84, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky.

He was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky, was a Christian of the Church of Christ faith, a member of the Hickory Grove Church of Christ, and a local business owner for fifty-seven years, operating Longs Auto Sales.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Gary Long and Charlie Grider; sister and brother, Ivalee and Big Joe Hurt.

He is survived by his wife Willie Mae (Short) Long; children, Jimmy (Linda) Long, and Shelia Long Grider, both of Burkesville, Kentucky; sisters, Helen (Charles) Steele of Indianapolis, Indiana, Betty Hogan and Hazel Jones, both of Burkesville, Kentucky. Several grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Watson officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to Poplar Grove Cemetery in James’ memory.
