The Clinton County Bulldogs will travel to Edmonson County Friday night to take on the Wildcats in the first round game of the District 3 district tournament.

“They have a senior QB and two quality wing backs who are also seniors. If we can slow them down on the defensive side of the ball and tackle, like we did against Green, we will give ourselves a chance,” Head Coach Rocky Tallent said. “On offense, we will have to take what they give us in the passing game and run the ball, as they have given up a lot on the ground this year against opposing teams.

Clinton County made the playoffs as a number four seed after defeating Green County in the final game of the regular season, 44-14.

Tallent said his team is ready to take on the challenge of going up against the number one seeded team in the district.

“It’s going to be a tough task they are undefeated in district play this year and have a lot of experience returning from last years’ district title team. Last week we had a good but light week of practice letting some minor injuries heal up from the Green County game. This week we will amp up practice and will look to stop their playmakers on offense,” Tallent said.

Friday night’s game will kick off beginning around 7 p.m.

“Through the air we won’t be able to hit the big play, as they will drop seven and sometimes eight into pass coverage. We must take the safe short throws and take our shots deep once they tighten up on the short routes,” Tallent said. “As always we need to win the turnover battle and take care of the ball!! We feel good about our chances and are ready to go upset the number one seed and look for our second straight district championship appearance.”
