Jazzton Sell, the 11-year-old son of Tony and Kathy Sell and a sixth grade student at Clinton County Middle School, recently made a trip to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. While there, he distributed free crochet hats, made by his grandmother, to cancer patients who have lost their hair due to taking chemo treatments. He has given away close to 100 hats thusfar. He became interested in this project when his own mom lost her hair due to the chemo treatments she has taken for lung cancer. He was cheerfully accepted by the staff and patients at M. D. Anderson and plans to make another trip sometime in the future, as well as a trip to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.
To any cancer patient who would like a free “Jazzy Hat,” Jazz will be happy to see that you receive one. Due to the high cost of postage, however, he can only do this locally. He has a variety of colors and textures in both children’s and adult sizes. You can reach him at 387-6573 or send an email to jazzychemohats@gmail.com.
