The hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and in particular the pressures of finding just that right gift for friends and family, and staying within budget, can be a challenging task.
Now just imagine being 12 years old and having to pull off that same challenge.
Once again, that’s where the Clinton County Homemakers are coming to the rescue for the youngest residents of our community, those ages 3-12.
Santa’s Workshop is coming to town once again, this time set for a three hour run, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, at Clinton County High School.
The event has blossomed into one of the most popular events for families with young children in Clinton County, allowing youngsters to purchase inexpensive gifts for members of their families without being watched by members of the family that they might be shopping for.
Plenty of Clinton County Homemakers, taking on the roll of “Santa’s Helpers” will be on hand to work with each shopper in selecting the gifts.
The children can purchase up to six gifts during their shopping spree, most of which are priced at under $5.
Santa’s Workshop also will include opportunities for photos to be made with Santa, stories from Mrs. Claus, songs with Mrs. Jingles as well as snacks, crafts and plenty of other activities.
Adults are invited to get in on the Santa Workshop fun this year, either as a shopper or as a vendor. The Homemakers are inviting craft and other local vendors to set up tables and sell their crafts and gift items at Christmas Village. Tables are available for rent at $10 each, and vendors will keep all proceeds from their respective sales efforts.
Vendor tables need to be reserved no later than December 2. Table rent, or additional Santa’s Workshop information may be obtained by calling the Clinton County Extension Office at 387-5404.
Above, young shoppers waited outside the Workshop area last year for their turn to do some Christmas shopping at the Clinton County Homemakers sponsored Christmas Village. Once inside, shoppers had plenty of help picking out gifts as Homemakers, filling the part of Santa’s Helpers, shown below, were on hand to assist.
