VA Rep available

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392.

SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

Relay for Life Flock Your Friends fundraiser

LCCAA offers free
personal finance workshop

Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency will be hosting a free Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance workshop on Tuesday, December 13 and Thursday, December 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Twin Lakes Grace Fellowship Church. In order to participate, you must be the parent of a child age 0-5 and be at or below 150% of the federal income guidelines. Lunch and childcare are provided at no cost and each participant will receive a $25 gift card and a $20 gas card upon completion. Ornament sale to benefit Hospice

Hospice of Lake Cumberland is selling Remembrance Ornaments this holiday season. Special Angel, Dove and Star ornaments are available to those who make a donation of $15 or more. The ornament is a wonderful way to honor a loved one or designate the ornament in someone’s memory. Attached to the ornament is a remembrance card that will be completed with your loved one’s name. Donations will fund compassionate hospice care for all, regardless of the ability to pay. How your gift can help: $50 provides a hospital bed for a month; $75 provides nursing assistant care for a week; $100 provides oxygen for a month; $250 provides a scholarship for a child to attend Camp Promise, a hospice camp for kids. pancake breakfast

Migrant Parent meeting

Clinton County School’s Migrant program will have a meeting Tuesday, December 6 at 6 p.m. in the Early Childhood Center all-purpose room. Christy Nuetzman from the Extension office will be speaking on “Gifts from the Heart.” There will be gifts for each child enrolled in the Migrant program. Christmas Angel’s Pageant

The 3rd annual Christmas Angel’s Pageant will be Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Cumberland County Middle School gymnasium in Burkesville, with registration at 2 p.m. and the pageant at 3 p.m. Beauty fee is $20, couples $30 and a $5 optional photogenic. Attire will be Christmas wear. Couples 0-6 years. Pageant wear for 7-21 years. All proceeds go to the Kids for a Cure-Relay for Life. City Council to meet

Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, December 6 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.
