Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron announces that Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Derek Dennis is a recipient of the prestigious 2020 Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Award.
According to Sheriff Catron, he nominated Deputy Dennis for this award to the Governors’ Office through the Kentucky Department of Transportation Cabinet. The nomination period covered the period, from October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020. During this time period Deputy Dennis made 46 driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs arrests in Wayne County. This is a record for driving under the influence arrests in Wayne County by a single law enforcement officer during a same time frame.
Sheriff Catron would like to acknowledge Deputy Dennis’ extraordinary efforts and dedication in keeping the roadways in Wayne County safer from impaired drivers.

Sheriff Catron states this is the second deputy with his office who has received this award from the Governor’s Office in the last four years. Deputy Joe Horne received this award in 2017. Sheriff Catron and his staff continue to be pro-active in keeping Wayne County a safer place to live.
