Fuel pumps across Clinton County were bagged as being empty Tuesday morning, after a “run” occurred throughout most of the day Monday at local stations.

The crisis regarding the ransomware software attack on the Colonial pipeline, sent consumers to the pumps in record numbers across the nation, resulting in empty fuel storage tanks at stations.

The long lines at the local stations were spotted throughout the day Monday and by the end of the afternoon, supplies were becoming depeted and pumps were closed and fitted with “empty” bags covering the pump nozzles.

Two local stations that experienced a constant stream of fuel customers are pictured at left, the top photo showing the lines at the pumps at Junction Station in the Snow Community, while the bottom photo shows the lines of vehicles at Super City Mart in Albany.

National transportation and economy experts weren’t willing to predict when the situation would be resolved with the ransomware lockdown, nor were they able to say how long it would take for the availability of gasoline and other fuels to return to normal once the situation is resolved.
