Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron has reported the following arrest activity during the past week:
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron his office has charged two Wayne County Detention Center inmates with arson.
At 7:07 pm on May 25, 2021, Deputies James Barnett and Allen Cash were notified by Deputy Jailer Lt. Koger as they were entering the Detention Center that inmates had just set a fire inside and he needed the Monticello Fire Department to respond.
The deputy jailer had extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher. The fire occurred in the isolation cells area of the center. After the deputies and Lt. Koger reviewed video footage the deputies interviewed two inmates that were housed in those cells.
While being interviewed, both inmates would not provide any information about the fire. The video footage shows the inmates piling up clothing and bedding sheets in the hallway inbetween their cells.
The video then shows one inmate throwing an item already on fire onto the material.
After entering the cell where the on-fire item came from, the deputies seized an electronic cigarette and batteries that were used to start the fire.
Deputy James Barnett charged Travis Keith, of Monticello, Ky., and Matthew Crum, of Lawrenceburg, Ky., with arson-1st degree each.
Both inmates continued to be housed at the Wayne County Detention Center. The Monticello Fire Department responded and ensured the center was safe to remain open.
In other law enforcement action, the Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests.
Amanda Fugate, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested for driving on a driving under the influence suspended operator’s license, failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance and for a traffic violation.
Justin Godsey, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Wayne County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant of Arrest for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (less than two grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces) and for persistent felony offender-1st degree.
Christopher Thompson, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Wayne County Family Court Forthwith Order of Arrest for violation of the terms or conditions of an order of this court.
Miranda Edwards, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Wayne County Family Court Order of Arrest for Contempt of Court.
Calvin Godsey, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Wayne County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to pay child support as ordered.
Harold J. Gevedon, of Red Fox, Ky., was arrested on a Letcher County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant of Arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine) and for a traffic violation.
Robert Hernandez, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Wayne County Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear as ordered on the underlying charges of trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (less than two grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and for persistent felony offender-2nd degree.
Fugate, Justin Godsey, Thompson, Edwards, Calvin Godsey and Gevedon were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Hernandez was released from custody after posting a bond.
Zachery S. Ramsey, of Mount Vernon, Ky., was arrested on a Wayne County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant of Arrest for theft by unlawful taking or disposition-from a building, two counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition-all others, burglary-3rd degree and for persistent felony offender-1st degree.
Charles Green, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Kentucky Parole Board Mandatory Reentry Supervision Violation Warrant of Arrest for absconding parole supervision, failure to report to parole officer as directed and for failure to seek substance abuse evaluation.
Tarisha McGinnis, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on 4 Wayne County Circuit Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to appear on the underlying charges of trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (less than two grams of methamphetamine) and for two counts of possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine).
Johnny Decker, of Burnside, Ky., was arrested on two Pulaski County District Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to appear for Show Cause Hearings on the underlying charges of two counts of assault-4th degree.
Ramsey, Green, McGinnis and Decker were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a drug investigation has led to the arrest of a Wayne County man on multiple charges.
On May 28, 2021, at 10:20 p.m., Sheriff Catron and deputies Derek Dennis, Jerry Coffey and Jerry Meadows executed a search warrant obtained through the drug investigation for a residence on Kentucky Highway 789.
The search recovered 140 opiate narcotic pills with a street value of approximately $10,000.00 and other narcotics. The search also allowed for the seizure of 11 handguns or firearms, marijuana, and a small amount of cash.
At 1:22 am on May 29, 2021, deputy Derek Dennis charged and arrested Timothy H. McGuire, of Monticello, Ky., for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 10 drug unspecified-opiates) (enhanced), possession of a controlled substance-2nd degree- (drug unspecified) (enhanced), possession of a controlled substance-3rd degree (drug unspecified) (enhanced), possession of marijuana, cultivating in marijuana (five plants or more) (enhanced), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
McGuire was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a traffic stop has led to the arrest of two Wayne County men on drug charges.
On May 29, 2021 at 7:49 pm, deputies Jerry Coffey and Derek Dennis conducted a traffic stop on Alexander Street for a traffic violations.
Deputy Dennis deployed Deputy K-P Unit Dunya around the vehicle for a free sniff. Deputy Dunya alerted on the driver’s door of the vehicle. The Deputies then conducted a search of the vehicle which resulted in two bags of suspected methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 13 grams in the driver’s floorboard. Also found inside the vehicle were two sets of digital scales, several new plastic baggies consistent with drug trafficking and other drug paraphernalia items.
Deputy Dennis charged and arrested William C. Evans, of Monticello, Ky., for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure of owner to maintain required insurance and for traffic violations.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kenneth D. Myers ,of Monticello, Ky., was searched by Deputy Coffey and was found to have a baggie of a crystal substance on his person that was believed to be methamphetamine with an approximate weight of two grams. Myers was charged and arrested for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine).
Both Evans and Myers were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.

Pedro Ramos, of Somerset, Ky. was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and for reckless driving.
Scottie Jennings, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested for fleeing or evading police-2nd degree (on foot).
Jacob T. Gregory, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested for public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol). Gregory was also arrested on a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Scotty L. Dobbs, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on four Fayette County District Court Complaint Warrants of Arrest for two counts of wanton endangerment-1st degree-on a police officer or probation officer and for two counts of assault-3rd degree-on a police or probation officer.
Allen Willoughby, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested on a Kentucky Parole Board Parole Violation Warrant of Arrest for absconding parole supervision and for failure to report to parole officer as directed.
Ramos, Jennings, Gregory, Dobbs and Willoughby were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Michael Brumley, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested for fleeing or evading police-2nd degree (motor vehicle), no operator’s license and for traffic violations.
Brumley was lodged in the Wayne County Detention.
