The Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received a donation for Trooper Island from the BP Truck Stop located on KY 80 west in London, KY.
Cristina Parms, an employee at the truck stop, organized a fund raiser that raised approximately $800 for Trooper Island. Parms is shown above presenting the donation check to Kentucky State Police Post 11 Sergeant Tom Atkin.
Trooper Island Camp was developed by the Kentucky State Police as part of a long range program of public service to the youth of Kentucky. The camping program is dedicated toward the development of one’s self image by building the physical body through nutritious food and exercise, developing mental capabilities with classroom study and providing spiritual growth through non-denominational chapel services.
Both boys and girls, ages 10 to 12, are selected from each of the sixteen post areas. There is no cost to the campers or their families to attend and there are no restrictions based on race, creed or color.
