No current cases known in Clinton County

Although there was some slight movement in the COVID-19 case count during the past week, at the end of the seven day reporting period, there were still no active cases among Clinton County residents, according to the Lake Cumberland District Health Department.

On Friday of last week, the LCDHD did report the addition of a single case of COVID-19, and at the same time, removing that case from the rolls and listing the patient as a 31 year-old male who was “released, resolved.”

In its explanation of the case numbers last Friday, the LCDHD referred to the case as a “suspect” case, without further explanation.

It is often the case when reports of this nature are involved that an individual has tested positive for the COVID-19 antibodies without ever having suffered symptoms or sought treatment for the disease.

That single case was the only movement in the case count for Clinton County during the previous week.

With that single case movement last week, Clinton County moved out of the most favorable level of spread, green or On Track, into the next highest level of Community Spread, or yellow, meaning the case count for a seven day period was greater than one, but less than 10 per 100,000 population.

Seven of the 10 LCDHD counties were in that same yellow level of spread while two were listed as being in the Accelerated Spread category. Only McCreary County was listed as being in the most favorable level of spread, the “On Track” level.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in this area, Clinton County has had a total 1,431 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within its population.

Vaccination appointments through The Med Center at Albany are available, and those vaccines are now being given on site at the local hospital.

Appointments for getting the vaccine are still available, and may be obtained by texting SHOT to 606-387-3646 or by emailing AlbanyVaccine@mchealth.net, or by calling 606-387-3646 and leaving a message.

Vaccines are also now available again at the Clinton County Health Department, as was confirmed to the Clinton County News last week by LCDHD spokesperson Amy Tomlinson.

Vaccination appointments through the Clinton County Health Department, or more information about the vaccines being offered and the vaccination dates and times, may be obtained by calling 606-387-5711.

Across the district, there were 11 patients reported to be hospitalized due to COVID-19, which is six fewer hospitalizations from the report of the previous week.

Clinton County’s lack of a single case at the current time was the only county in the 10 county LCDHD district reporting no active cases as of Tuesday morning.

The total case counts for the remaining counties and the number of patients being treated in area hospitals in parentheses were: Adair 12 (1), Casey 6 (2), Cumberland 1 (0), Green 5 (0), McCreary 3 (3), Pulaski 19 (3), Russell 1 (0), Taylor 16 (2), Wayne 2 (0).

Currently there are 65 active cases within the 10 county district area, which is 19 fewer than last week’s report.

To date, there have been 22,583 cases of COVID-19 cases across the district, with 453 related deaths, with Clinton County’s population having suffered 32 of those deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
