VA Rep available

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392.

SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

LCCAA offers free
personal finance workshop

Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency will be hosting a free Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance workshop on Tuesday, December 13 and Thursday, December 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Twin Lakes Grace Fellowship Church. In order to participate, you must be the parent of a child age 0-5 and be at or below 150% of the federal income guidelines. Lunch and childcare are provided at no cost and each participant will receive a $25 gift card and a $20 gas card upon completion. Twin Lakes group fitness

classes scheduled

The following fitness classes are offered at the Twin Lakes Wellness Center.

* Cycling: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 5-6 p.m. (closed Dec. 26). Free with membership and offered to members only.

* Zumba: Monday, 6:15-7:15 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Classes are $2.50 per class for members, $5 for non-members. (closed Dec. 26).

* Pilates: Tuesday and Thursday, 10-11 a.m. (closed Dec. 26-30). Free with membership and offered to members only.

* Water Aerobics: Monday, 8:30-9:30 a.m.; Tuesday, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30-9:30 a.m., Dec. 8 and 22. (closed Dec. 26). Free with membership and offered to members only.

Senior Center

Winter Celebration

Clinton County Senior Center invite all seniors, 60 and over, and their families to come and meet some of the local agencies here to help you at its Winter Celebration on Friday, December 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Free information will be available, as well as door prizes and lunch. (A $2 donation is suggested for lunch.)

Santa letter reminder

Reminder: The deadline to turn in Letters to Santa in order to have them published the week of Christmas is 4 p.m. Monday, December 12 for any class, group or individual.

Board of Education
to meet

Clinton County Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting Monday, December 12 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

Fiscal Court to meet

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, December 15 at 5 p.m. at the Clinton County Courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public. 8-2

Santa to be at high school

Santa Claus will be at the high school this Saturday, December 10 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. for pictures. The cost is $5 which will include a 4×6 picture of your child with Santa. There will also be a Christmas bake sale in the cafeteria with Christmas cookies and cakes for sale! Please come out and tell Santa what you want for Christmas!

Santa to visit WANY

Santa Claus will be at WANY radio station on Saturday, December 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Bring your own camera for photos.) There will be refreshments and children can tell Santa what they want for Christmas. The Grinch may also make an appearance. The event will kick-off the annual “Treasure Hunt,” which begins Saturday and is part of the annual Christmas At Home program.

Living Well with Diabetes
