Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron has reported the following arrest activity during the past week:
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron an intoxicated man ends up with multiple charges.
On August 31, 2021, at 5:21 pm Sheriff Catron responded to a residence on West Kentucky Highway 92 after receiving a call of an intoxicated man wanting to fight with a homeowner.
Upon arrival, the intoxicated man was fighting with the homeowner and, after a brief struggle, Sheriff Catron placed the suspect under arrest.
While interviewing the homeowner, it was learned that the subject had just left the homeowner’s house, cussing his mother while continuously spinning the tires on his vehicle in their yard.
The mother then contacted her husband and son about the incident and had reason to believe the suspect was going to the son’s residence.
Once the son and his father arrived at the son’s home, he found the suspect sitting in his driveway with the back door of the residence open.
The suspect then started threating the homeowner and his father that he would kill them while walking towards them. This is when the fight began.
Deputies James Barrett and Brad Tucker arrived on scene to assist Sheriff Catron. A continued investigation into the incident found the suspects muddy boot prints inside the residence.
It was also learned that the suspect almost hit a vehicle head on while traveling on Kentucky Highway 92.
The deputies had earlier taken a theft report of a cell phone from a residence at Hilltop View. This cell phone was found inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Deputy Barnett charged Dalvin Cheek, of Monticello, Ky., for burglary-2nd degree, two counts of wanton endangerment – 1st degree, receiving stolen property, alcohol intoxication in a public place, three counts of terroristic threatening – 3rd degree, menacing, disorderly conduct – 2nd degree, public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and criminal michhief-3rd degree.
Cheek was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Billy L. Burke, of Monticello, Ky., was arrested for driving on a driving under the influence suspended operator’s license and a traffic violation.
Burke was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron ,a joint investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Monticello City Police Department into numerous thefts and burglaries has resulted in a Wayne County man being arrested.
The ongoing investigations had produced several suspects with one main person of interest. These crimes included a stolen vehicle, an all-terrain vehicle, vehicle parts, tools, jewelry and multiple items from Walmart.
This suspect was identified by law enforcement after being seen on video surveillance cameras in several of the thefts, along with the vehicles being used.
On September 2, 2021, at approximately 3 p.m. one of the victims in these crimes noticed the suspect going into Walmart.
After contacting Deputy Brad Tucker, multiple units from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Monticello Police Department responded. The suspect was taken into custody without incident as he was exiting Walmart.
Deputy Tucker charged and arrested Joshua E. Daniels , of Monticello,, Ky. on three Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrants of Arrest he had obtained from his investigations.
These charges included burglary-3rd degree, theft by unlawful taking or disposition ($1,000.00 but less than $10,000.00), criminal mischief-3rd degree and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
As Daniels was being booked into the Wayne County Detention Centern Deputy Jailer William Catron noticed Daniels attempting to place a plastic baggie that came from his show, containing a white substance believe to be fentanyl, into his jail uniform.
Deputy Tucker then charged Daniels with promoting contraband-1st degree.
The substance will be sent to the Kentucky State Police Laboratory for identification.
Monticello City Police Officer Mike Neal arrested Daniels on a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest that was obtained by Officer Josh Asberry for theft by unlawful taking or disposition (greater than $500.00 but less than $1,000.00) and criminal mischief-1st degree.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Monticello City Police Department are continuing their investigations with more charges expected for Daniels and other involved suspects.
