A man accused of murder and a host of other charges in connection with a two vehicle head-on collision earlier this year has a three-day trial scheduled for January 5-7 of 2022.
Jesse W. Brown of Albany is charged in the death of Debra Brown of Albany, in connection with a wreck that occurred on January 9.
During his arraignment back in May, Public Advocate Brad Shuffett was appointed to represent Brown and through his attorney, he entered a not guilty plea.
The defendant was originally charged in a multi-count indictment, including several counts of wanton endangerment and first degree persistent felony offender, among several other charges.
At the time of the incident, the defendant was holding his small child in his lap and allegedly told investigators that Jesus had made him run into Debra Brown’s vehicle head-on.
The defendant, according to law enforcement officials who investigated the incident, allegedly ran several other vehicles off the road prior to the fatal collision.
In an unrelated case involving a murder charge, Clinton Circuit Judge David L. Williams sustained a motion for “Release of Certified Medical Records” in the case of Commonwealth vs. Emmanuel Flutur.
Flutur, who is charged with murder in the death of his three year old niece almost three years ago by cutting her throat in her home, was recently granted a change of venue sought by his defense counsel.
The brutal incident occurred during the early morning hours of December 8, 2018. The defendant allegedly rode with family members by private vehicle to the local hospital where the child was taken afterward.
During a motion hearing held on August 12, Judge Williams considered several motions in the case, including the change of venue motion, which he granted.
Flutur’s trial was moved to neighboring Cumberland Circuit Court.
During that hearing, the judge did overrule motions, including one to suppress a statement made to the media and other statements.
Flutur has had several trial dates already scheduled, but postponed or delayed over the past several months.
During a pretrial conference back in May of this year, a week long trial for Flutur was tentatively scheduled to begin on October 27.
