The Christmas holiday period last week and the corresponding work schedule of the Lake Cumberland District Health Department ,as well as health care facilities in the region, most likely resulted in a skewed number of COVID-19 case reports.
Regardless, Clinton County saw one of the lowest number of new cases being reported by LCDHD in several weeks, with just 13 new cases in the week reporting period, Tuesday through Monday.
During the holiday stretch, there were no new reports released by the agenty for four consecutive days, Thursday through Sunday, with only three days of reports being released.
Six new cases were reported last Tuesday, followed by seven new cases on Monday of this week, resulting in the new case total of 13 as of Tuesday morning.
There were 19 COVID-19 cases in Clinton Count that were released during the same week-long reporting period.
With those numbers in the past week, Clinton County has just 10 active cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning.
According to the LCDHD, one patient from Clinton County is currently being treated in a hospital.
A similar number of reporting days will occur this week as well, with the New Year’s holiday causing the agency to close additional days.
During the past week, there were no new deaths involving Clinton County COVID-19 patients.
To date, Clinton County has had 41 patients die as a direct result of the COVID-19 disease.
As far as vaccinations go, Clinton County continues to slowly improve on that front as well.
According to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, there are currently 4,547 Clinton County residents who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that during the past week, an additional 24 residents received the vaccine.
As of Monday, Clinton County’s population was 44.50 percent vaccinated against COVID-19, while 72.50 percent of Clinton Count residents 65 years of age or older have been vaccinated.
Vaccinations against the virus are now readily available at several locations in Albany, including local pharmacies, and those seeking a vaccine are urged to call your favorite pharmacy for information.
Vaccines are also now available again at the Clinton County Health Department.

The local health department is also now offering booster vaccines to those who are eligible.
In addition to Clinton County’s current 10 cases, numbers across the 10 county LCDHD district, along with the number of patients being treated in area hospitals in parentheses, if any, Adair 41 (7), Casey 11 (3), Cumberland 7 (4), Green 20 (8), McCreary 24 (9), Pulaski 75 (36), Russell 26 (3), Taylor 48 (10), Wayne 57 (7).
As of Tuesday morning, the 10 county LCDHD district was reporting 319 active cases, compared to last week’s 405 total cases, with 88 patients being treated in area hospitals and 231 on home isolation.
To date, there have been 44,790 total cases of COVID-19 within the LCDHD district since the beginning of the pandemic, resulting in 791 deaths.
