March Madness and the NCAA is winding down

I’ve forced myself to watch at least some of this crazy NCAA tournament, and I have to say, I’ll be glad when this mess is over with.

Aside from joining the growing throng of fans cheering for the Cinderella Peacocks of St. Peter’s, it’s really not been a lot of fun, especially for Kentucky and SEC fans.

I know that long time Duke fan Myra Stephens will take issue with me for saying this, but what could be sweeter than North Carolina being the team that ended Coach K’s regular season career with a loss, on the Duke home floor, followed by a tournament ending loss in the final four for Duke and the retiring Coach K.

Go Tar Heels. Don’t think I’ve said that before.

Spring sports in full swing, Preview in this week’s issue

We may be still talking basketball, at least for the rest of this week and next Monday night, but there has been plenty of outdoor action already on the baseball and softball diamonds, as well as on the tennis courts at Clinton County High School.

This week’s Clinton County News includes our annual Spring Sports Preview.

Featuring the players and coaches we’ll be covering through the end of May, the Spring Sports Preview will give fans an up-close look at the Racket Dawgs, Bat Dawgs and Lady Bat Dawgs and Archery Dawgs who will be representing our school and county for the next several weeks before the end of this 2021-22 school year.

We hope you enjoy it and from this desk, nice job Brett and Erika.

Lady Bat Dawgs, Bat Dawgs take All ‘A’ first round wins

Speaking of baseball and softball, our Bat Dawgs and Lady Bat Dawgs will be playing Saturday in the semi-final round of the 4th Region All-A Classic Tournaments.

The Lady Bat Dawgs are there by virtue of a bye in the tournament brackets and will face Russellville on Saturday, April 2 in the semi-final round after the Lady Panthers defeated Cumberland County last week in opening round action.

Saturday’s game will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Clinton County, with a championship game on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., also on our Clinton County field.

The Bat Dawgs earned a spot in the semi-final round after a 17-0 thumping of Russellville this past weekend.

The Dawgs next face the Rebels of Todd County Central in a game at Cumberland County, set to begin at 12:00 noon. A championship All ‘A’ Regional game is slated for 2:00 p.m., also at Cumberland County.

Good luck Lady Bat Dawgs and Bat Dawgs in Saturday’s All ‘A’.

In the meantime – It’s March Madness – don’t call me until April
