An Albany, Kentucky, couple have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of an infant who died due to apparent suffocation, according to local authorities.

Cody Parrigin, 24, and Hailey Harber, 21, both of Albany, were arrested on Thursday, April 14, 2022, after Harber’s infant was found dead.

According to Albany Police Officer Ricky Marcum, Parrigin had rolled over on the infant, causing it to suffocate. Parrigin was arrested and charged with reckless homicide, a Class D felony, while Harber was arrested and charged with reckless homicide criminal abuse in the first degree, which is also a Class D felony.

Marcum said, according to his interviews and witnesses, a female entered the room where Parrigin had been sleeping and had to “forcefully” remove Parrigin, who was found on top of the infant. Marcum said the woman performed CPR on the infant and called 9-1-1.

“There is probably narcotics involved, but there has been nothing to determine that at this time,” Marcum said. “Our investigation is still ongoing.”
