Trevor Bennett, 18, pled guilty to second degree manslaughter at a hearing in Russell County Circuit Court on Wednesday for the shooting death of 29-year-old Felicia Eads on November 2, 2010.

Formal sentencing has been set for February 14, 2012, with the agreement by Bennett to an eight year prison sentence with the understanding that the Commonwealth of Kentucky would oppose shock probation or early release.

Then 17 when the shooting took place, Bennett was prosecuted as an adult.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting appeared to be a continuing dispute between Eads and the mother of Bennett, Pamela Jane Bennett, according to court records.

Reportedly, Pamela Bennett fired numerous shots from a .22 caliber rifle into the vehicle that held Eads in a driveway at a residence on Old Eli Road. She is currently held at the Russell County Detention Center awaiting trial on the charge of attempted murder.

The initial charge against Trevor Bennett of first degree manslaughter was sought when Bennett delivered a shotgun blast to the chest of Eads, killing her. The indictment sites extenuating circumstances of “extreme emotional disturbance.”

Both Trevor and his mother Pamela remain incarcerated at the Russell County Detention Center. Pamela Bennett awaits trial set for May 23, 2012.
