James Z. Huff, 85, Lawrence, Kansas and a native of Clinton County, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, the son of the late Robert A. and Oza Mae (Keeton) Huff and husband of the late Phyllis M. Snavely Huff. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert (Bob), Charles O. and Ed Huff and three sisters, Mary Keeton Owens, Josephine Huff and Roxie Thrasher.
He is survived by a daughter, Jannette Lee (James) Soper, Lenexa, Kansas and brother-in-law, Ben Thrasher, Louisville, Ky. He is survived locally by a sister and brother-in-law, Anna Sue and Norman Smith and sister-in-law, Christine Huff and special friend, Ruth Upchurch Thrasher; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Campbell-New Funeral Home with final resting place in Irwin Cemetery. Local arrangements made through Campbell-New Funeral Home of Albany. Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to Irwin Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
