The Lady Dawgs were back in action Tuesday night as the varsity and junior varsity traveled to McCreary County. Highlights and game summary will be found in next week’s edition as it was played too late for press deadline.

Also over the holidays, Lady Bulldog Breonia Thurman moved into an elite group by surpassing 1,000 points for her career.

Thurman made her 1,000th point in the first quarter against Fern Creek in the Pinkham Lincoln Automotive Christmas Classic on December 22, 2011.

She was also named MVP of the game Friday against Butler County.

Ansley Stalcup was also given an award for most valuable player during the game against South Warren on Wednesday. She finished the game with 19 points and the Lady Dawgs won 62-42. Stalcup was also named to the all tournament team.

“Christmas tournaments are a good way to play someone you normally don’t schedule,” Thompson said. “I think that’s a plus. I also think you can use it as a team building process. You are spending so much time together as a group it builds chemistry.”

Thompson said one of the downfalls of tournaments is you don’t have time to correct many mistakes. “Overall we picked up four wins so I guess it was a positive.”

Clinton County will host Metcalfe County on Friday as the second round of district action gets underway.

The Lady Dawgs will be the first game of a girls’/boys’ double header. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m at Lindle Castle Gymnasium.
