VA Rep available

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392.

SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

Free Foster Care Orientation classes available

Benchmark Family Services–Foster Care Agency, offers free orientation classes every Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. Eastern time to anyone interested in becoming a foster parent or wishing to obtain information about fostering. The location is 200 S. Vine Street, Somerset. Call 606-451-9534 to register for the class, or to receive a free info packet with no obligation.

Diabetes classes offered at health department

Three more Living Well with Diabetes classes will be offered at the Clinton County Health Department during the month of January, including Wednesdays, the 18th and 25th from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Class four of the evening class will be February 6 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and a graduate class, “Artificial Sweeteners”, will be offered February 15 from 1-2 p.m. For more information or to pre-register for any of the classes, call 387-5711, ext. 1166.

Lakeland Coon Club
chili supper, Spade and Rook tourney

Lakeland Coon Club will be having a chili supper, Spade and Rook tournament at the club on Saturday, January 14 at 4:30 p.m. Come out and support the club. Everyone is welcome.

Little League to meet

Albany Little League will have a meeting Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Park. Officers will be elected. Anyone interested are encouraged to attend. 13-2

Elder Abuse meeting

The regional meeting of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District Elder Abuse Council will be Thursday, January 26 at 10 a.m. in the Lake Cumberland Area Development District Conference room in Russell Springs. All public officials, law enforcement officials, and concerned citizens against elder abuse are encouraged to attend and become involved.
