The Clinton County School District is once again excited to welcome students back to the classrooms with the first instructional day falling on Wednesday, August 9.
The majority of students got a first look at their schedules and classrooms at the back to school orientations last week and early this week, beginning on July 25.
Clinton County High School student orientation will be held this Thursday, August 3, with grades nine through 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium lobby. You will be directed from there as to where to gather.
The 2023-24 school year will see buses run on a staggered drop-off schedule, with an instructional start time of 7:30 a.m. at Clinton County Middle School; 7:40 a.m. at Clinton County High School; 7:50 a.m. at Albany Elementary School; and 8:00 a.m. at the Early Childhood Center. Parents may drop students off starting at 7 a.m.
This year will also mark another year with all students in the district being offered free breakfast and lunch.
Food service staff have been hard at work preparing and developing exciting new menu options for students to sample throughout the first few weeks of school. Encourage your children to take advantage of the district-wide free school lunch program.
As is most always the case, due to retirements and other factors, some administrative and staff changes will be seen at some of the schools this coming year.
Attendance rates are always important to each individual school district, with state and federal funds and grants being allocated on a per student enrollment basis.
Although attendance levels in past years have been lower than hoped for, primarily due to the COVID pande2ic and the one year post-COVID school year, the district administration and school staff are continually looking for ways to improve the numbers of students in the classroom each year.
Attendance rates over the past four school terms have been between 90 and 91 percent ADA (Average Daily Attendance) level. However, the attendance goal for the district is 94 plus percent and school officials, including Dr. Julie York, Director of Pupil Personnel, hope to see the attendance rates rise during the 2023-24 school term.
The district-wide high attendance day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Clinton County will compete with other districts across the region and state for the highest attendance on that date and overall.
