Thursday afternoon a call was made to the NEWS office about a Bald Eagle spotted on the new bypass. Clinton County News Photographer Brett Gibson rode to the scene with local businessman Allen Smith to discover the phone call was true.

Gibson and Smith found the eagle perched in a tree, just outside the city limits, feasting on what appeared to be a rabbit it had killed for a meal.

The large bird sat on the branch for several minutes before taking flight. Above and right, photos were taken at a distance of 75 yards.
