Friday night football lights at Clinton County High School has enjoyed a good fan turnout in recent years, but game night this Friday night, as the Bulldogs take on Jenkins High School on Bulldog Field, will likely see a huge turnout, especially from “old-timer” players from seasons past.
A planned reunion of players, coaches, cheerleaders and support staff from the first era of Clinton County gridiron action – 1972 through 1981, is expected to draw a large number of participants, with a schedule of special events set to take place prior to the 7:30 kickoff of the Clinton County – Jenkins contest.
Billed as “Clinton County Football – The First Era” gathering, Friday night’s salute will recognize the teams that took the field wearing the Bulldog Blue and White from the program’s first inception here, until it was stopped following that 1981 season.
The football program was resurrected at Clinton County High School beginning with the 2006 season, and is now two games into the 20th season in this “Second Era.”
One of the reunion organizers, David Cross, an Albany attorney and former CCHS football player from those first years, has told the Clinton County News that Friday’s lineup of events recognizing the program from the “First Era” is expected to be tremendous when everyone gathers at Bulldog Field.
He noted last week that organizers have not only heard of plans to attend from a host of players, coaches, cheerleaders and support staff, but also from the children of former players who have since passed away, who have made plans to attend Friday in honor of their parents.
A schedule of planned reunion happenings will include:

3:00 – registration begins at the tent next to Bulldog Field
4:30 – food service begins
6:00 – program
7:30 – football game CCHS v Jenkins

Everyone is welcome to attend this event-former players, coaches, support staff and friends of the program from 1972-1981.
