Players, coaches, cheerleaders, support staff and their families, who were involved in some way with the beginnings of the Clinton County High School football program, converged to an area adjacent to Bulldog Field Friday night to reminisce, honor, fellowship and remake old acquaintances during the first ever football reunion.
The event was organized as a way to pay homage to what is being called the “First Era” of football on this the 50th anniversary year of the program being introduced here in 1973. Football was shut-down at CCHS after the 1981 season and didn’t return to the athletic lineup on the varsity level again until 2006.
At left, as those attending the reunion enjoyed a meal Friday afternoon, current Bulldog players made their way into the large tent to meet the “legends” of the game on hand, prior to gearing up to face Jenkins High School later in the day. Many of the reunion attendees stayed around for the night game against Jenkins, cheering their alma mater on to a 47-0 victory.
