The Lady Dawgs lost Monday night in the opening round of the All “A” Classic Regional game as Clinton County took on Glasgow.
Clinton County couldn’t find the right combination on the floor, with Alex Beard out due to sickness, the Lady Dawgs scored only 28 points for the game while Glasgow racked up 61.

It took the Lady Dawgs a couple of minutes to get on the board Monday night after Glasgow made four points to start the game.
Bree Boils scored Clinton County’s first point on one of two from the free throw line.
Glasgow went up 6-1 on a field goal, but Breonia Thurman hit a field goal to cut the lead to three points.
The Lady Scotties added to its lead with another basket, but three free throws by Bree Boils moved the Lady Dawgs to within two points, 8-6 with 2:38 on the clock.
On the next trip down the floor, Glasgow added two more points to the board for a four point lead, but a free throw by Justice Boils cut the lead to three once again with 1:18 remaining in the period, 10-7.
Glasgow would continue to add points to its side of the board as the Lady Scotties led at the end of the first period, 14-7.
Both teams struggled in the second quarter with only four field goals made between the two teams.
Glasgow finished the half only up by nine, 20-11.
During the second half, Glasgow came out and started to play like the ranked team they were.
In this week’s Cantrell ratings, Glasgow is ranked 25th in the state with a 12-2 record.
The Lady Dawgs had some trouble bringing the ball up the floor throughout the whole game, but during the third period, Glasgow’s inside game was picked up as the Lady Scotties put up 20 points in the third quarter compared to 10 points put up by Clinton County. Glasgow led after three periods, 40-21.
The final quarter went much like the third, as Glasgow continued to put points on the board and totaled 21 for the final period while Clinton County put up seven.

The Lady Bulldogs improved its record Tuesday night as Clinton County hosted Cumberland County in the second regular season matchup between the two teams.
Clinton County had trouble defending the Lady Panthers, but came out on top as the final buzzer sounded, 37-31.
Cumberland County opened the game with a three pointer, setting the tone early.
The Lady Dawgs’ first points of the game came from the free throw line at the 5:26 mark as Ansley Stalcup hit one of two.
Clinton County’s Breonia Thurman hit a field goal to tie the score at three points, but Cumberland County counteracted with a three pointer to move up by three points, 6-3, with 4:34 on the clock.
The Lady Dawgs went to the line again for two shots as Stalcup cut the lead to two points, but Clinton County’s defense failed on the next trip down the floor as Cumberland County continued to score. The Lady Panthers hit a field goal to grab a four point lead, 8-4
Although Cumberland County was on top during the first part of the ball game, both teams struggled on offense.
Both teams were taking poor shots, the result in that being a low scoring first quarter with Cumberland County on top, 8-6.
The Lady Dawgs took its first lead of the game in the first 30 seconds of the second quarter when Thurman nailed a three pointer to go up 9-8.
Alex Beard extended the lead to two points on a free throw, and Macy Campbell dropped in a three pointer from the corner to give the Bulldogs a 13-8 lead. Clinton County’s run wasn’t finished as Tara Elmore added two points from the free throw line for a 15-8 lead, finishing Clinton County’s 9-0 run.
Cumberland County stopped the bleeding with a basket at the 4:40 mark, followed by another bucket to cut the lead to three points, 15-12.
Cumberland County added to its 6-0 run on two free throws to shave Clinton County’s seven point lead down to one, 15-14.
Beard made a field goal with 2:34 on the clock to push the lead to three points, but Cumberland County tied the score at 17 with a three pointer, third of the game, and took the lead on a field goal with 1:06 remaining in the half.
Clinton County went into the locker room at half time with a tied score of 19 after Elmore nailed a jumper at the buzzer to give Clinton County a little boost for the second half.
That boost was something the Lady Dawgs needed as Clinton County came out and held Cumberland County to only two points in the third quarter, while putting up 10 on its side, 29-21.
The fourth quarter was a true test for the Lady Dawgs, by maintaining a lead and keeping it for an extended period of time.
Cumberland County cut the lead to six points with a basket at the 5:40 mark, 29-23, but a free throw by Bree Boils pushed the lead to seven.
Cumberland County cut the lead to three points on a free throw and a three pointer, 30-27, but a basket by Thurman with 3:06 on the clock gave Clinton County a little more cushion as time ran down, 32-27.
With under three minutes remaining, Clinton County’s biggest opponent was the clock. Thurman went to the foul line and hit one of two for a five point lead, but Cumberland County was fouled on the next possession and made two from the foul line to cut the Lady Dawgs’ lead to four, 33-29.
With less than two minutes remaining, Cumberland County hit a layup off a mid-court steal to cut the lead to two points, 33-31. Little did Clinton County know that would be Cumberland County’s final points of the game.
Down the stretch, Cumberland County missed two free throws to cut the lead to two points allowing the Lady Dawgs to bring the ball in play and get fouled, sending Stalcup to the line. She hit both shots to give the Lady Dawgs a six point lead and the win, 37-31.

As of Tuesday, January 17, the athletic department at Clinton County High School was working on making Saturday night’s game a double header with the Lady Dawgs and Dawgs. That game has not yet been confirmed, however, the Lady Dawgs will take on Russell County, in a varsity/junior varisty action on Thursday night at 6 p.m. That game will be a make-up game from last Friday night’s cancellation due to weather.
The boys’ team is already scheduled to play Jackson County with a junior varisty/varsity game.
