Dawgs have a rough night against Hornets
Friday night was a rough one for the gridiron Dawgs against district rival Metcalfe County.
Down early and never able to get anything going, an injury laden Clinton County squad was simply outmatched, giving up an eventual 42-6 decision to the Hornets.
Clinton County has now gone to its fourth quarterback this season due to injuries at the position, and that’s just something that’s hard to get past, especially when your player numbers are as limited as ours.
The Dawgs will be on the road this Friday night as they take on another district opponent, Monroe County.  Clinton County takes a 3-5 record to Tompkinsville, with the Falcons also posting a 3-5 mark on the year.
The Dawgs are now 1-2 in district competition, while Monroe County is posting a 2-1 district record.
Friday night’s (yes, I double checked the calendar) weather prediction is for showers to be moving out of the area in the evening, so be prepared.  Temperatures at the 7:30 scheduled kickoff should be in the mid 50s, dropping into the mid to upper 40s during the game.
Good luck Rocky and company as you look for a “W” Friday night against Monroe County.
The Dawgs will return to Bulldog Field for the final regular season contest of the year, playing host to 1A Berea Pirates on October 27.

Congrats to our Volley Dawgs for moving on
Clinton County’s Volley Dawgs thumped Monroe County Monday night, 3-0 (best of five) in the semi-final round of the 16th District Tournament at Russell County.
The win earned them an advance into the championship round on Tuesday, where they faced Russell County. (too late for this week’s NEWS).  Making it into the championship round also means that Clinton County will also advance to the 4th Region Tournament.
The Volley Dawgs finished regular season play with an 18-11 record, going 7-3 in competition against 16th District opponents during the season.
Congrats to Coach Josh Moons and his team for a great showing and the berth in the championship round!

Basketball on the horizon,
Meet the Bulldogs, Wall of Fame inductees
We’re in the final stretch of October as this is written, which means November is just around the corner and thoughts begin turning to basketball for high school roundball fans.
That said, it also means plans are already in the works for the annual introduction of the 2023-24 basketball teams, cheerleaders and coaching staffs – our own version of “Big Blue Madness.”
Mark November 10 down on your calendars for this year’s Meet the Bulldogs.
More details on the night will come as we get closer to the date, but I can announce who will be honored as our newest members for the Wall of Fame.
Lee DeForest, who wore the blue and white for our Bulldogs in the mid 1990, will be inducted during the November 10 ceremony.
Breonia Thurman, who saw varsity action as a Lady Bulldog from the 2007-08 season through the 2011-12 season, will be honored as the newest Lady Bulldog inductee.
Congrats to both on this honor!
