The Clinton County School District’s search for a permanent schools chief is now underway, with the announcement that the superintendent’s vacancy has been posted.
An email was received last Friday morning, October 20, by Brittany Talbott Reagon, Secretary to the Superintendent/Title I Coordinator, announcing the (school) board has officially posted the vacancy for the next superintendent.
A copy of the posting, entitled “Kentucky Superintendent Vacancy” was also attached and reads as follows:
“The Clinton County Board of Education is seeking an innovative and motivational leader with a demonstrated record of improving student achievement and district culture as its next superintendent.
“The successful candidate should have previous administrative experience (previous superintendent experience is preferred) and be committed to instructional excellence, student development, faculty and staff engagement and commitment, and college and career readiness.
“It is critical for the candidate to have the ability to clearly and effectively cast a vision and communicate with our staff members, setting and maintaining the high expectations that are necessary to achieve the district goals of creating the very best educational opportunities for our students.
“Academic rigor and a commitment to transformational leadership will need to be the hallmark of our next leader, and we are seeking a candidate who will be committed to the success of all our students.
“The candidate should possess strong morals, ethics, and integrity and be committed to fostering those attributes throughout the district.
“The successful candidate will also require the ability to successfully and effectively delegate, demonstrate familiarity with personnel law, and maintain an intricate knowledge of budgeting, school finances/fiscal responsibility, and maintenance and construction of buildings and grounds. A working knowledge of the Kentucky Education System is also required.
“Clinton County, home to approximately 11,000 residents, is located in South Central Kentucky between beautiful Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow Lake. The County is in the foothills of South Central Kentucky, along the Tennessee border, and the community is filled with people who love and respect our students and educators.
“The salary will be negotiable with the contract to begin on January 1, 2024.
“To apply, go to the KSBA’s website: www.ksba.org click on the Superintendent Search tab, KSBA current searches, under the ad you will find the link to apply for this search.”
(Application deadline is November 19, 2023)
Following the application process, the Clinton County Board of Education will be working with a representative from the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) in the search process.
Following the announcement of the retirement of Dr. Paula Little, a long-time educator in the district who announced her retirement from the superintendent’s position less than a year into her tenure, Tim Eaton with the KSBA met with the local board to begin the search for a superintendent and in forming a superintendent search committee.
Boyd Randolph was chosen by the school board to lead the district while the search for a permanent replacement took place. He has been serving as interim superintendent for the past four months.
The superintendent search committee, which is comprised of school district certified and classified staff and community members, will be in charge of interviewing and selecting a final number of applicants to submit to the full school board.
Following school board interviews of the finalists submitted, the board itself will do the actual hiring and set the salary of a new permanent superintendent.
Due to superintendent applicants being considered a personnel matter, no applicant’s name will be made public.
More information on the superintendent selection search process will be made available in the coming weeks.
The Clinton County Board of Education also held its regular monthly meeting Monday of this week, and a separate article on that session can be found elsewhere in this week’s Clinton County News.
