The annual Fall County-wide Clean-Up was another huge success, thanks to a tremendous amount of community support.
The roadside trash pick-up day, one of two held each year in the county, was held this past Saturday, October 28, and exceeded the amount of trash collected during last Fall’s event.
A total of nine organizations, including many school groups, as well as some individuals, collected a total of 460 bags of trash–outdistancing the 433 bags collected this time a year ago.
Volunteers, armed with necessities they needed to clean up trash, worked on eight roads between Static at the Kentucky/Tennessee border south, to Junction Station to the north.
Clinton County Judge/Executive, in discussing the success of last weekend’s clean-up, noted they kept children and youth who volunteered primarily along the bypass area, in safer locations.
Clinton County Fiscal Court (judge and magistrates), Clinton County Road Department and Clinton County Solid Waste Coordinator Renea Wells sponsored the event, which was well organized by Wells, and is funded annually through the Kentucky Litter Abatement Program.
The most recent event was made a huge success by a host of local businesses who sponsored prizes and food, and not to mention the over 100 volunteers who joined the effort from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
A huge cook-out was held at Mountain View Park for the volunteer workers immediately following the clean-up.
The event, sponsored by several area businesses in Albany and Clinton County, saw some $3,084.45 in cash and prizes being awarded at the cook-out.
Clinton County Judge/Executive Ricky Craig expressed his praise and gratitude for the community support given to this clean-up effort to help make the county a more beautiful place to live and visit.
The judge/executive expressed thanks to all of the sponsors who made the event possible, to Wells for her tireless work in organizing the event and, most of all, to the many volunteers who donated their time and work to help make Clinton County a cleaner place for all to enjoy.
