‘Fall back’ Sunday

With the leaves changing colors and falling to the ground, temperatures quickly dropping and another Halloween behind us, we are reminded that the Fall season is definitely here.
Autumn, although a favorite season for many, also brings a dreaded period for many as well, as daylight begins and ends an hour earlier each day.
Remember the adage, Spring Forward-Fall Back, as this coming Sunday, November 5 (officially at 2 a.m. Central Time), local residents and many others across the nation will “fall back in time.”
Readers are reminded to set their watches, clocks and other time keeping devices “back” one hour as Central Daylight Saving Time comes to an end and Central Standard Time begins for just over four  months.
As the time changes, everyone in the region and other parts of the country will experience an hour less daylight in the evening, but an additional hour of daylight in the morning.
When the time changes, and while resetting clocks and watches, it is also a good time to check and/or replace batteries in home safety items such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
The good news is, Central Standard Time (CST) lasts only a small portion of the year, as Central Daylight Time (CDT) returns the second Sunday in March.
