Everett “Duce” Ray Upchurch, 99, of New Castle, Indiana, and a Clinton County native, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at The Willows of New Castle.
He was born in Albany, Kentucky, one of nine children, to the late Ted and Eulas Upchurch.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Upchurch of New Castle; daughter, Diana Pyle of New Castle; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews and several friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Young; sisters, Ethel Arthur, Edna Anderson, Wanda Marcum and Grace Baker; brothers, Arthur, Roy, Jimmy, and Gordon Upchurch.
Services were held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home, in New Castle, Indiana with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial followed in South Mound Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion/VFW and the US Navy.
