The Clinton County Lady Dawgs finally got back on the hardwood last week after more than a week off due to weather.
The Lady Dawgs traveled to Edmonson County to take on the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday, January 23 in a game that saw a slow start on both ends of the floor.
At the end of the first quarter, Clinton County trailed 15-8, but started making shots in the second quarter to eat away at the lead.
Edmonson County only recorded two field goals and a free throw for six points in the second period while Clinton County managed to post 16 points to take a three point lead at the half, 24-21.
Clinton County continued its run in the third quarter as Sadie Ipock opened with a field goal to lead, 26-21.
The Lady Dawgs remained in control of the game for the most part in the third quarter, but Edmonson County put together a 7-2 run to tie the score at 34 towards the end of the period.
Landree Moons added a layup to finish the third with a two point lead, 36-34.
The Lady Dawgs didn’t take long in the fourth qaurter to get back in the driver’s seat as Crista Thacker made a three point play, followed by a three pointer by Makayla Smith to lead, 42-34.
With 2:40 on the clock Thacker hit another three pointer to give Clinton County an eight point lead, 48-40.
The final minutes were lived from the foul line for the Lady Dawgs, hitting six in the closing seconds.
By the time the final buzzer sounded, Clinton County had picked up the 54-45 win.

Clinton County was back in action on Tuesday night as the Lady Dawgs traveled to Monroe County (too late for press deadline) and will be in action Thursday at Glasgow and on Saturday in the Robbie Davis Classic.
Saturday’s game will be against Red Boiling Springs.
