The Clinton County Bulldogs had a good showing at the All “A” Classic State Tournament this past week, but ran into a buzz saw against Murray on Friday in the quarter finals with a 50-32 loss.
The Dawgs took on Raceland in the first round and won handily 61-39.

It was a slow start for both teams in the quarter finals round of the All “A” Classic State Tournament held last weekend at Corbin Arena.
The Dawgs fell behind early, 4-0, but Cannon Young hit a field goal and two free throws to tie the score at four all.
Murray would finish the quarter with six points to Clinton County’s one as the Dawgs trailed, 10-5 to start the second quarter.
Scoring for both teams was lacking in the second quarter as the Dawgs struggled to find its offense.
Both teams put up only six points in the second quarter and the Dawgs went into the locker room at the half trailing by five, 16-11.
Clinton County opened the second half with a basket by Nick Poore and a three pointer by Steele Burchett to tie the score at 16.
Murray then sealed the deal with a 16-0 run to take a 32-16 lead. Burchett scored a three pointer late in the quarter to cut the lead to 32-19 and start an 8-0 run to finish the quarter.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Clinton County had cut the lead to eight points, 32-24.
The fourth quarter went much the same for the Dawgs as Murray continued to put points on the board.
Clinton County managed to post only eight points in the eight minute period, while Murray put up 18.
By the time the final buzzer had sounded, Clinton County’s quest to advance in the All “A” Classic State Tournament came to an end with Murray defeating the Dawgs, 50-32.

The Clinton County Bulldogs opened up the All “A” Classic State Tournament with a Thursday game against Raceland.
The Dawgs jumped out on top early with the first eight points coming from Burchett, 8-2.
Raceland came back and cut the lead to three points, 12-9, but Clinton County finished the quarter with a 7-2 run to lead, 19-11 after the first quarter.
Clinton County remained in control during the second quarter as Young scored all of Clinton County’s 11 points. At the half, Clinton County led, 30-22.
The Dawgs continued to remain in control during the third quarter, but Raceland did manage to outscore the Dawgs in the third period, 14-12.
It was the fourth quarter when Clinton County’s defense stepped it up a notch, holding Raceland to only three points during the eight minute period.
Clinton County’s Cohen Davis scored 10 of his game high 17 points in the quarter, followed by Burchett with four point and Young with three points.
Drew Davis rounded out scoring in the quarter with a field goal.
By the time the final buzzer had sounded, Clinton County advanced to the quarter finals game against Murray, 61-39.

Clinton County was back in action on Tuesday night (too late for press deadline) against Monroe County.
The Dawgs will travel to Glasgow on Thursday for the second game of a double header and will host Hopkins County Central on Saturday in the Robbie Davis Memorial Classic at 7:30 p.m.
Nick Poore went up for a shot against Raceland on Thursday during the first round of the All “A” State Tournament.
