The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched at 4:51 a.m. Monday morning after Clinton County 911 received a call of a male subject who entered a residence with two firearms and according to reports, began shooting inside the residence.
The residence was located at 63 Ronnie Pittman Road in Albany.
Mickey Shelton, 55, of Albany, was arrested and charged with burglary in the first degree, six counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and criminal mischief in the first degree.
Law-enforcement arrived on the scene and set a perimeter around the residence to begin clearing the surrounding buildings. According to the police report, multiple gunshots were visible on the exterior of the residence and several shell casings were found, as well as multiple gunshots into the floor and walls.
Shelton had fled the scene and was located driving a white pickup truck with a black tailgate on Groce Gibson Road. He was arrested without incident and lodged in the Clinton County Jail.
While Shelton was being located, communication with Clinton County’s School Resource Officers was open to ensure the safety of the students at all schools.
