Lady Dawgs fall to Monroe County, travel to Barren County on Thursday

The Lady Dawgs dropped two games this week, one coming at the hands of former district rival Monroe County and the other to 12th Region opponent Pulaski County.

On Friday night, Clinton County hosted Monroe County for the Lady Dawgs’ final home game of the season. Monroe County, currently ranked 10th in the state with a record of 22-4, defeated Clinton County, 61-19.

The Lady Dawgs headed to Pulaski County on Saturday night to take on the Lady Maroons and lost the contest, 69-44.

The Lady Dawgs traveled to Pulaski County Saturday night to take on the Lady Maroons, but didn’t come home with a win as Pulaski County outscored the Lady Dawgs primarly in the third quarter to take the 69-44 win.

The Lady Bulldogs found itself down by eight after the first quarter, 15-7, but came back in the second quarter to only trail by six at halftime, 26-20.

Pulaski County added 20 points in the third quarter alone to move up by 15, 46-31.

Both teams scored 13 points in the final period as Clinton County moves to 6-22 on the year.

The Lady Bulldogs hosted Monroe County on Friday night, February 10, for senior night.

Clinton County’s two seniors, Veronica Lowhorn and Breonia Thurman started their final game at home against the top ranked Lady Falcons in what turned out to be a lopsided victory for Monroe County.

During the first quarter, Monroe County applied full court pressure for most of the half and played like they had something to prove against the Lady Dawgs.

Clinton County held its head high and played the game, however Monroe County had too many options for offensive, leading the Lady Bulldogs 20-4 at the end of the first quarter and 37-8 at halftime.

Clinton County couldn’t find its rhythm as Monroe County scored at will, finishing with a third quarter score of, 48-13.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the final quarter scoring six points while Monroe County grabbed 13 points for a 61-19 win.

Clinton County’s next matchup came Tuesday night, too late for press deadline, against Southwestern and the Lady Dawgs will travel to Barren County Thursday night for the final game of the regular season. That game is set for a 6 p.m. tip off.
