VA Rep available

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392.

SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

Free Foster Care Orientation classes available

Benchmark Family Services–Foster Care Agency, offers free orientation classes every Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. Eastern time to anyone interested in becoming a foster parent or wishing to obtain information about fostering. The location is 200 S. Vine Street, Somerset. Call 606-451-9534 to register for the class, or to receive a free info packet with no obligation.

Retired teachers meeting

Clinton County Retired Teachers will meet Thursday, February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Lee’s Famous Recipe. 17-2

School board to meet

Clinton County Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting Monday, February 13 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office. The meeting is open to the general public.

Fiscal Court meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, February 16 at 5 p.m. at the judge/executive’s office. The meeting is open to the public. 17-2

Workforce Investment Board to meet

There will be a Workforce Investment Board meeting Tuesday, February 21 at 10 a.m. Central Time in the large conference room at the Lake Cumberland Area Development District offices in Russell Springs. 17-2

3D Archery Shoot

Parent election to
superintendent screening committee to be held

The Superintendent Screening Committee for the Clinton County Schools is to select a parent representative. KRS.352 states the parent is to be selected after nominations by the president of the PTA/PTO organizations. Clinton County does not have any Parent Teacher Organizations; therefore parent nominations for the superintendent screening committee can be made at your child’s school until 3 p.m. on February 24, 2012. When nominations have closed you will be able to vote for a parent member to serve on this committee on March 6, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the front office of any school. The parent receiving the most votes will then serve on the superintendent search committee. 17-2

Park board to meet

The Clinton County Rec/Park Board is scheduled to meet Thursday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public. 18-2

CC Soil Conservation

District to meet

The Clinton County Soil Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, February 23 at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room of the FSA/NRCS office. The meeting is open to the public. 18-2

Volunteers needed

The Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue is in desperate need of volunteers to work with the Clinton County organization. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Lee’s Famous Recipe at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in helping the organization is asked to attend. 18-2

Family Literacy
Family Night

Clinton County Family Literacy will be having family night Thursday, February 16 at 5 p.m. at the high school. There will be a bundle opening, food, fun and literacy activities. For more information call Amy Abner or Eddie Tallent at 387-6648.

Big Blue Shape Up

It’s that time again! Are you ready? Our next Big Blue Shape Up kicks off on Tuesday, February 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the Extension Office.
