Overton County’s wheel tax will not be raised. Overton County Executive Ron Cyrus made that clear during the Monday, February 13 meeting of the Overton County Legislative body.

“I’ve had several calls today, and evidently there was a misunderstanding and several people have approached me and wondered why we were raising the wheel tax,” he said to the County Commission. “That is not the fact, folks, it was just an issue that we were talking with the Budget Committee and we were polling basically the court to see how they felt about it, and they pretty much unanimously, you know, put aside as not attempting to raise that.

“So it was just part of a working session with the entire court and discussed. I guess it just got misunderstood by a few people. So, there is no attempt to raise the wheel tax.”
