The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs finished its regular season with two losses, bringing their season to a 4-22 record.
The Lady Dawgs traveled to Pulaski County Tuesday night to take on Southwestern. Clinton County lost the contest by a final score of, 58-36.
Thursday night was Clinton County’s final game of the regular season as the team went on the road to Barren County.
The Lady Dawgs looked promising in the first quarter, but their effort was outmatched in the second quarter as Clinton County lost it’s 12th game in a row, 65-37.

During the first quarter Thursday night, Clinton County came out on a mission.
The team’s defense and offense seemed to be giving the Trojanettes some trouble as Clinton County held strong on the hardwood.
The Lady Dawgs fell behind early, 3-0, but quickly put points on the board when Breonia Thurman made a basket at the 7:20 mark, 3-2.
Barren County scored on the next trip down the floor, but a free throw by Thurman found the bottom of the net to cut the lead to two points, 5-3.
After two missed attempts by Veronica Lowhorn, her third attempt at a three pointer went in to give the Lady Dawgs its first lead of the game, 6-5.
Barren County regained the lead on the next possession, but Clinton County took it back on a field goal by Ansley Stalcup, 8-7, with 3:01 on the clock.
On the next trip, Barren County hit one of two from the line to tie the score at eight, but Clinton County regained the lead again when Stalcup hit a field goal.
Thurman followed with a basket, after a defensive stop, to push the Lady Dawgs up by four points, 12-8.
Barren County finished the quarter on a 5-0 run, that included a made shot at the buzzer to regain the lead after one quarter, 13-12.
In what seemed a promising quarter for Clinton County quickly turned into a disaster as the second quarter got underway.
The Trojanettes put together an 8-2 run to take a 21-14 lead and continued to keep Clinton County from getting good shots on offense.
With 4:48 on the clock, Lowhorn hit another three pointer to cut the lead to four points, but Barren County made back-to-back field goals to lead, 25-17.
At the end of the half, Clinton County trailed by 10, 34-24.
During the entire second half, it was all Barren County as the Trojanettes completely dominated on offense.
The third quarter ended with Clinton County only picking up six points as Barren County scored 17, 51-30.
The final period saw the Trojanettes pick up 16 points and held the Lady Dawgs to only seven to reach a final score of 65-37.
Barren County’s win could almost be contributed to one player as Jamie Cummings poured in 29 points, 15 coming from the free throw line.

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Pulaski County Tuesday night, February 14, to take on the Lady Warriors of Southwestern.
Clinton County fell behind early in the game and trailed 23-7 at the end of the first quarter.
As halftime rolled around, the Lady Dawgs only scored four points in the second quarter, compared to seven by Southwestern for a 30-11 deficite.
The Lady Bulldogs perked up a little on offense during the third quarter and scored 14 points, but Southwestern put up 18 to lead by 23 at the end of three.
Clinton County outscored Southwestern by one in the final period, but the damage had already been done as the Lady Dawgs were defeated, 58-36.

The Lady Dawgs played Russell County in the first round of the 16th District Tournament on Tuesday, February 21. That game was too late for press deadline and will be featured in next week’s edition of the Clinton County News.
The girls’ championship game will be held Thursday night, February 23 at 7 p.m. at Russell County High School.
