The Clinton County Racket Dawgs hit the courts this week with with two matches. The first of which coming on Tuesday, March 13, against Somerset and the second against Wayne County on Monday.
For the boys’ team, against Somerset as a team, the Racket Dawgs won three matches and lost six, including three losses in doubles competition.
In doubles play, the team of Haley Matthews and Glen England were defeated, 6-2, William Cox and Chris Cox fell, 6-3 and Josh Tallent and Lamon Hubbs were shutout, 6-0.
In singles play, Kolby Smith and Kyle Choate lost 6-2 in their respective matches while Matthew Savage was defeated, 6-0.
The three wins came from Jordan Vincent, 6-2, Jared Hunter, 6-4 and Clay Choate, 7-5.
On the girls’ side, against Somerset, it was a complete sweep by the Lady Briar Jumpers, picking up nine match wins in doubles and singles play combined.
Bianca Soma lost her singles match, 6-2, as did, Alisa Cook. Laura Groce, Maegan Harlan and Kiley Hoppe were shutout 6-0 and Rachel Claborn lost her match 6-3.
In doubles play, the team of Groce and Hoppe lost 6-1, Cook and Katie Huff lost 6-0 and Harper and Claborn lost by a final of 7-6 with a 7-3 tiebreaker.
On Monday, both the girls’ and boys’ teams traveled to Wayne County to take on the Cardinals.
The boys’ team won three matches and dropped six as Glen England and William Cox won their singles matches, 7-5 and 6-3 respectively.
Smith, Vincent, Matthews and Kyle Choate lost their matches in singles play, 6-0, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 respectively.
In doubles play, it was the team of England and Matthews with a 6-2 loss and the team of William Cox and Chris Cox with a 6-1 loss.
The only win in doubles play came from the team of Kyle Choate and Clay Choate with a 7-6 win and a 10-9 tiebreaker.
On the girls’ side, Soma, Harlan, Hoppe, and Cook lost their respective matches, while Hailey Neal won 6-0 and Katie Huff won 6-2. Ashley Harper rounded out singles competition with a 6-0 win.
In doubles competition, Huff and Cook lost 6-0, as well as Neal and Harlan with a 6-0 loss. Abby Craig and Macy Cooper were defeated 6-1.
Harper and Claborn won their double match by a score of 6-4.
