On Sunday, February 26 the Clinton County High School Chess team participated in its first State Chess Tournament. The team is new to chess and were not expected to do well, but the “Dogs of War” qualified – finishing 4th place.

Sophomore Jacob Williams won two games, drew one game and only lost one game, finishing in 6th place overall (and was seeded 24th).

Dustin Daley managed two wins and two losses. The team competed last weekend in Bowling Green at the state individual championship. Congratulations to the team, thanks to Mr. Williams, Mrs. Gunter, and Mr. Pharis for their generous transportation to Lexington. Big thanks to Ms. Guffey and the 21st Century program which has been a valuable supporter of the newly formed chess team.
