A local man has been arrested in connection with the burglary into Lee’s Famous Recipe. According to the Monticello Police Department, J.C. Wallace, 41, was arrested March 10 and charged with one count of burglary third degree and theft by unlawful taking over $500.
The burglary was discovered at the restaurant at approximately 7 a.m. on Friday, March 10.
An employee found a window broken. Police said an undetermined quantity of cash was stolen.
Wallace was lodged in Wayne County Detention Center.

A state inmate walked away from work detail a week ago Monday afternoon, according to Wayne County Jailer Ray Upchurch.
Upchurch stated that Mitchell Ross, a state inmate on work detail with the Monticello Street Department, walked away from the job at approximately 1:15 p.m.
Ross is described as a 35-year-old male with brown hair and green eyes and is from Irvine, Kentucky. He has been charged with second degree escape, a Class D felony.

Several people have been charged with promoting contraband at the Wayne County Detention Center, according to Jailer Ray Upchurch.
Dylan Owens, of Monticello, was brought into the detention center by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department on March 9. Marijuana, cigarettes and a lighter were found in Owens’ possession when he was searched by deputy jailers.
Owens was charged with promoting contraband first degree.
Upchurch said that Christopher Oakley, of Monticello, and Daniel Keith of Somerset, were also charged with promoting contraband first degree, after deputy jailers found a needle with a substance in it in the possession.
All contraband was turned over to Kentucky State Police.
