William Cox leaned into his serve Monday afternoon as the Racket Dawgs and Lady Racket Dawgs hosted Monroe County. Cox competed in doubles competition with his brother Chris. They won their match by a final of 8-0.
The Clinton County Racket Dawgs took advantage of the mild weather Monday to host a match against Monroe County.
On the girls side, Bianca Soma won the only singles match against her opponent by a final of 6-3. Laura Groce fell, 8-3, Maegan Harlan lost 8-1, Kiley Hoppe was defeated 8-0 and Alissa Cook was bested by one set, 9-8. Abby Craig rounded out the singles competition with an 8-1 loss.
In doubles play, it was the team of Hailey Neal and Harlan picking up the 8-2 win. Team members Groce and Hoppe lost 8-1 and Katie Huff and Cook were defeated 8-4.
For the boys team, Clinton County almost pulled off a sweep by recording eight wins and one loss for the match.
Jordan Vincent won his match, 8-1, Kolby Smith defeated Jamison McFall 8-2, and Zach McFall, Jared Hunter and Matt Savage all won 8-0.
Bryson Starns was defeated in singles play by a final of 8-0.
In doubles competition, it was the team of Glen England and Haley Matthews picking up an 8-2 win, and the team of William Cox and Chris Cox, as well as the team of Matthew Hunter and Matthew Wells with 8-0 wins.
The boys team also played a match last Thursday, March 22, against Casey County.
As a team, Clinton County picked up two wins, but recorded seven losses for the day.
William Cox was the only Racket Dawg to pick up a win in singles competition with a final score of 8-5.
In doubles competition, the team of Josh Tallent and Lamon Hubbs shutout their opponent by a final of 8-0.
