City Council to meet
Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, April 3 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.
Cruise-In time again
Come help us kick off our seventh season, April 7 starting at 4 p.m. at Dale Hollow Shell in Byrdstown, Tennessee. April will feature the Easter Bunny. Pictures can be taken and purchased. Nominations are being accepted through Friday, March 30 for parent members to the 2012-13 School-Based Council. Nominations will be accepted in writing during regular school hours. Nominees must be a parent or legal guardian of a student who will be enrolled at CCMS during the 2012-13 school year. Foster Care orientation

Benchmark Family Services–Foster Care Agency, offers free orientation classes every Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. to anyone interested in becoming a foster parent or wishing to obtain information about fostering. Bunnies and Beauties
Easter Pageant
The first annual Springtime Bunnies and Beauties Easter pageant will be held Saturday, April 7 at the CCHS gymnasium. Attire will be Easter outfit/Sunday wear. Ages will be 0-8 boys and 0-12 girls. Pre-registration is $10 and $15 at the door. Registration will begin at 12 noon. You may preregister by phone or email.

Family Literacy to hold

Clinton County Family Literacy will have family night Thursday, March 29 at 5 p.m. at Mountain View Park. There will be a cook-out and Easter egg hunt. Living Well with Diabetes classes offered
Living Well with Diabetes classes will be offered at the Clinton County Health Department on Wednesdays in March from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. The next date will be March 28. A diabetes basic evening class will also be taught Monday, April 2 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Classes are free. Pre-register by calling 387-5711, ext. 1166 or online at www.lcdhd.org.
Fire and Rescue hosting
portrait fundraiser
The Albany Fire and Rescue Department will be hosting a portrait fundraiser. Anyone who participates with a $20.00 or more contribution will recieve one free 8×10 family portrait, the portraits will be taken at the Albany Fire and Rescue Building.
Representatives will be going door to door for the contributions each representative will have a letter and a proper ID as well. As always thank you for your continued support of our department. Your cooperation is needed and will be greatly appreciated.
Little League sign-ups
Albany Little League will have sign-ups at IGA from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays, March 17, 24, 31 and April 7. Children must be four years of age by May 1 and must have a birth certificate to apply. Registration forms may be dropped off at Potter’s Ace Hardware, Albany Redi-Mix and Horizon Adult Health Care Center. 22-4
Volunteers needed
The Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue is in desperate need of volunteers to work with the Clinton County organization. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Lee’s Famous Recipe at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in helping the organization is asked to attend.
Nutrition Education
Stacy Smith, the Nutrition Education Program assistant is now offering collaborative programming with the Extension Office Nutrition Program on Tuesday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Classes open to the public. Various lessons covering nutrition, food budgets and spending, and food safety will be taught. There will also be chances to sample new and exciting recipes! Early Head Start accepting applications
Lake Cumberland Head Start program is now accepting applications for children ages zero to three, and pregnant women in the Clinton County area for the 2012-13 school year.
Early Head Start is a child development program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and families with special needs. Qualified staff operates a center-based facility that is developmentally appropriate for children zero to three years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and learning experiences that meet the needs of young children.
Applications can be picked up at the Early Head Start center located at 102 Cody Lane (Terry White Building) or 387-7470 Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or e-mail amanda.cannon@lc-hs.org.

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month.
