The Clinton County Racket Dawgs had the week off from school for spring break, but both teams didn’t take a break from the courts with three away matches.
The first of which came on March 27 against Southwestern as the Lady Racket Dawgs picked up four wins, but lost five matches.
In singles competition, it was Bianca Soma picking up the 8-6 win, as well as Hailey Neal with a 6-1 victory and Rachel Claborn an Alissa Cook won their matches, 6-2.
In doubles competition, Southwestern swept the Lady Racket Dawgs with three wins, over the teams of Maegan Harlan and Neal, Ashley Harper and Claborn, and Abby Craig and Cook.
On March 30, the Lady Racket Dawgs traveled to Greenwood to take on the Lady Gators that resulted in nine losses for Clinton County.
Soma, Claborn, Kiley Hoppe and Katie Huff were all shutout, 8-0, while Harlan lost 8-3 and Harper fell 8-1.
In doubles play, Greenwood won all three matches by a score of 8-1 in each match.
The Lady Dawgs struggled Monday as the team traveled to Metcalfe County. The outcome wasn’t good for Clinton County as the Hornets picked up nine wins over the Lady Racket Dawgs, including three wins in doubles competition.
On the boys’ side of the net, Clinton County also traveled to Somerset to take on Southwestern and picked up eight wins over the Warriors.
Clinton County’s only loss was a close one as Haley Matthews fell 9-8.
Jordan Vincent won his match 8-5, William Cox and Zach McFall won their singles matches, 6-1 and Kyle Choate and Matthew Savage picked up 6-1 wins.
In doubles play, the team of William Cox and Christopher Cox won 8-5, Vincent and Matthews won 8-1 and Choate and McFall won 6-0.
The Racket Dawgs traveled to Greenwood on March 30, but lost six singles matches and one doubles match.
Clinton County’s Matthews and Glen England won their doubles match, 8-6 and Clay Choate and Kyle Choate won by a final of 8-3.
On Monday the Racket Dawgs picked up two wins and two losses against Metcalfe County.
McFall won his singles match, 6-3, while Bryson Starns lost 8-0.
In doubles play, the team of Savage and Jacob Cross won 8-1, while Matthew Hunter and Matthew Wells lost 6-4.
