Sunset Marina co-owner and manager Tom Allen spoke to a group of school and athletic department officials from Clinton County High School and Pickett County High School during a joint meeting of the two schools at Sunset Marina last Thursday morning. The two schools were invited to the marina to investigate the possibility of an annual basketball game between the girls’ and boys’ basketball programs on an annual basis. The discussion included the possibility of a pre-game banquet that would be privately sponsored by area businesses and professionals, as well as a “challenge” trophy that would be kept by each winning team for the year. Possible dates and final details will be worked out in the weeks to come, with a game date, should the event be finalized, to be announced at a later time.
