The Clinton County Racket Dawgs and Lady Racket Dawgs played a host of matches last week and started off this week at home against Monroe County.
For the girls on Monday, Clinton County won five matches on its home court while dropping four matches, two in singles and two in doubles.
In singles play, it was Bianca Soma, Rachel Claborn, Alissa Cook and Kiley Hoppe picking up wins, 8-2, 8-6, 8-6 and 8-6 respectively.
Laura Groce dropped her match, 8-2 and Maegan Harlan was defeated, 8-4.
In doubles competition, the team of Cook and Harlan won 8-3, while Claborn and Hoppe lost 8-6 and Groce and Hoppe were shutout, 8-0.
On Friday, April 27, the Lady Racket Dawgs traveled to Barren County and won a single match while losing two in both singles and doubles combined.
In singles play, Soma picked up the sole win, 6-3 and 6-1, while Harlan lost, 7-4.
In doubles play, the only match played was the team of Soma and Harlan and they were defeated, 8-1.
On Tuesday, April 24, Clinton County hosted Cumberland County and picked up three wins, two in singles and one in doubles play.
In singles play, Soma defeated her opponent, 6-4, while Hailey Neal won 6-3.
Falling in singles play was Harlan, 6-2 and Groce, 6-1.
In doubles play, the team of Groce and Hoppe won 6-4, while Claborn and Ashley Harper were defeated, 6-4.
For the boys’ team, Clinton County hosted Monroe County as well on Monday, April 30, also picking up five wins and four losses in both singles and doubles play.
In singles play, it was Jared Hunter, Zach McFall, Clay Choate, Matthew Savage and Matthew Hunter picking up wins, while Kyle Choate was defeated, 8-5.
In doubles play, the team of Savage and Jared Hunter lost, 9-7, as well as McFall and Matthew Hunter, 9-7.
Also falling in Monday’s match was the team of Bryson Starns and Alex Beaty, 6-2.
On Thursday, April 27, Clinton County traveled to Barren County and picked up only two wins, while dropping four matches.
The only win in singles competition was Glen England with an 8-4 win, while Jordan Vincent, McFall, and Haley Matthews lost, 6-3, 6-2 and 8-0 respectively.
In doubles play, the team of England and Matthews lost 6-1 and 6-2, while the team of Savage and Kyle Choate won 8-1.
On Tuesday, April 24, Clinton County hosted Cumberland County and almost made a complete sweep, but lost one doubles match in the team of Starns and Matthew Wells, 6-3.
Rounding out doubles competition was the team of Matthews and England picking up the 6-4 win, while the brotherly team of William and Chris Cox won 6-3 in their match.
In singles play, Clinton County won all three matches played, as Kolby Smith won 6-4, Jared Hunter, 6-3 and Savage shutout his opponent 6-0.
Kiley Hoppe returned a ball during Clinton County’s match against Cumberland County. The team of Hoppe and Laura Groce, won the match, 6-4.
Chris Cox played his doubles match with his brother William on Tuesday, April 24, against Cumberland County. The team won its match, 6-3.
