The Clinton County Bulldogs pulled off a good win Saturday night as Logan County came to Albany. The Bulldogs went up by as many as 17 at halftime and cruised to a 69-61 win.

Logan County drew first blood in Saturday night’s game against the Bulldogs. Clinton County struggled in the early minutes of the game, but found its speed with 5:21 on the clock when Wendell Maupin started an 8-0 run to take a 10-4 advantage.
Logan County came back and cot to within two points of the Bulldogs, 10-8, but the full court pressure put on by Logan County only seemed to fuel the fire for Clinton County.
Clinton County jumped out to a 14-8 lead before Logan County scored to cut the lead to four points with less than a minute remaining in the quarter.
Clinton County stayed strong and added a 6-2 run to finish the quarter with a 20-12 lead.
At the start of the second quarter, the Bulldogs grabbed a 10 point lead on two free throws by Colby Langford.
Logan County cut the lead back to four points, 22-18, but a series of baskets by Maupin and Wayne Stearns pushed the lead to 13 points, 31-18, with 3:26 remaining in the half.
With two minutes on the clock, Clinton County led the game by 11. Ryan Beard knocked down a shot to put the Bulldogs ahead by 13. Logan County dropped in a three pointer to cut the lead back to 10, but a three pointer and a foul shot by Stearns, followed by a three pointer by Beard, put the Bulldogs up by 17 at the half, 42-25.
As the second half got underway, Clinton County couldn’t find its first half swagger, but managed to keep the Cougars at arms length. With 2:51 on the clock in the third period, Logan County cut the lead to seven points on two free throws, but Keifer Dalton hit a three pointer to give the Bulldogs a 10 point lead, 51-41.
At the end of the third quarter, Logan County hit a three pointer to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to single digits, 54-45.
Clinton County held strong in the fourth quarter as Stearns made two of his 25 points with 7:29 on the clock for a 56-45 advantage.
Both teams struggled to find the hoop in the fourth quarter, as almost two minutes passed on the clock before either team would score.
Logan County hit a shot with 5:40 showing to cut the lead to nine again, but Maupin grabbed two more points for a 58-49 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the game.
Even though time was on the Bulldogs’ side, Logan County made a comeback, but it wasn’t enough.
The Bulldogs held its own on defense and never allowed Logan County to get any closer than six points for the remainder of the game.
Clinton County finished the game with Beard at the line as he hit two free throws to get to the final score, 69-61.
