The body found in Green River Saturday, April 28, near Woodbury has been identified as Brandon Tyler Crain, 19, of Munfordville. According to Hart County Sheriff Boston Hensley, the Kentucky State Medical Examiner contacted his office Wednesday to confirm the identification of the body.

Crain had been missing since January 26, 2012, after he reportedly walked away from his mother’s home on East Center Street in Munfordville around 2 a.m. The search for Crain has been an extensive one, initially involving about 80 volunteers along with Hart County Search and Rescue personnel and Edmonson County Search and Rescue personnel who immediately searched the Green River from Munfordville to as far as Edmonson County.

The Civil Air Patrol was also used in the search for Crain. As well, Crain’s family has been proactive in the search, covering much of South Central Kentucky with flyers asking for information about the young man.

Butler County Coroner Marty Jones said Wednesday evening the cause of death was determined to be drowning, though the manner of death is still under investigation. Kentucky State Police Detective Erik Salman is leading the investigation.
