The Memorial Day weekend turned tragic early Saturday morning when a Clinton County man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on May 26.
The accident occurred on Hwy. 738, the Wolf River Dock Road, about six miles southwest of Albany.
Joshua Allen Goad, age 33, of Albany, was traveling northeast toward town on Hwy. 738 when he apparently lost control of the small pickup truck he was operating. The vehicle went over a steep embankment and overturned several times before coming to rest in a nearby field. The victim died from injuries he sustained in the accident.
Goad was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Steve Talbott at 7:12 a.m. The coroner was notified of the accident by local dispatch at 6:39 a.m.
Coroner Talbott said the victim, who lived in Albany, was originally from Michigan.
The accident was investigated by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department who was assisted at the scene by the coroner, Clinton County EMS and Albany Fire Department.

In a separate one-vehicle motorcycle crash the following morning in neighboring Wayne County, two young Monticello men lost their lives.
According to Kentucky State Police, London Post 11, they received a call from Wayne County Dispatch at approximately 1:40 a.m. Eastern Time Sunday, May 27, of a single vehicle traffic crash on KY 3284 in the city limits of Monticello.
Upon arrival, KSP Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Trooper Delzie Kelly determined that a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle, operated by Matthew J. Pierce, 23, of Monticello, was traveling westbound on KY 3284 when it left the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a house.
Pierce and his passenger, Jordan B. Crouch, 23, also of Monticello, were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.
Pierce and Crouch, who were not wearing helmets, were pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Coroner Forrest Hicks.
Trooper Kelly is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Wendell Higginbotham, the Monticello Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County EMS, Monticello Fire Department, and Wayne County Coroner’s Office.
