Incumbent Circuit Clerk Tony Kerr won the Republican primary for that office as he defeated Republican challengers Jacky Burton and Jean Waddell in last Tuesday’s primary election.

Kerr tallied 1,933 total votes compared to Burton’s 1,143 and Waddell’s 283.

Kerr moves on to November’s general election where he’ll face Democrat Barry Kay McKinley, Jr.

In the race for retiring State Senator Vernie McGaha’s 15th Senatorial District spot, Republican Chris Girdler, a native of Pulaski County, defeated rivals Mark Polston and A.C. Donahue.

Girdler managed to carry his home county while Polston carried Russell, Adair and Casey counties.
