A Bulldog turns Raider

Congratulations are certainly in order for former Clinton County basketball Bulldog Derek Albertson.

Derek, a 6’ 6” center who came off the bench to contribute often to last year’s 24-7 effort, had only played basketball for a few years when he made the varsity team for Clinton County.

His efforts and determination to become the best he could in a short time have now paid off in the form of a scholarship with the Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.

Derek is the son of Donnie and Vicky Albertson.

Lindsey Wilson competes in the NAIA as a member of the Mid-South Conference. The Blue Raiders finished the 2011-12 season with a 21-10 overall record.

Summer slow-down continues

We’re still in that summer slow down stretch when not a lot of local sports action is going on to be reported on, so I’ll urge outdoor enthusiasts to get outside and take advantage of this summer weather while they can. We’ll be stacking firewood and getting out the blankets before we know it.
